Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) Special Statutory Funding Program

Access to Research Resources:

Opportunities for New Investigators

Consortium Name Opportunities for New Investigators

Collaborative Islet Transplant Registry (CITR)

Investigators who are starting an islet transplant program, or who are part of an existing program, are encouraged to apply via the CITR website.

Search for Diabetes in Youth (SEARCH )

The Search Study invites Investigators interested in childhood diabetes research to collaborate on matters of interest to the field of childhood diabetes. Please contact SEARCH to express your interest in collaboration.

Epidemiology of Diabetes Interventions and Complications (EDIC)

The DCCT/EDIC research group welcomes proposals for collaborative studies from any investigator who believes he/she has a research idea that could utilize some of the stored sample collection and clinical phenotypic data in an ancillary study. The primary objective would be to increase insight into the pathogenesis of diabetic complications and/or the mechanism of "metabolic memory" or "imprinting" that has been uncovered.

Type 1 Diabetes Genetics Consortium (T1DGC)

The T1DGC website provides information for new investigators who wish to participate in the Consortium.

Collaborative Projects on Proteomics/Metabolomics and Type 1 Diabetes and its Complications

The following opportunities exist for investigators in the type 1 diabetes and proteomics/metabolomics fields:

  1. Type 1 diabetes investigators with an interest in using proteomics/metabolomics to expand their research in type 1 diabetes are invited to provide a brief description of any biological samples they are willing to share for proteomic/metabolomic analysis via a collaborative partnership by e-mailing your information to NIDDK.
  2. Proteomics/metabolomics researchers interested in characterizing samples relevant to type 1 diabetes and its complications are invited to look at the list of websites listed here.

Trial to Reduce IDDM in the Genetically at Risk (TRIGR)

Opportunities for new investigators are available at every TRIGR site. Please contact a TRIGR site near you for more information on opportunities.

Beta Cell Biology Consortium (BCBC)

Pilot and Feasibility Programs are periodically advertised on the BCBC website. However, there are no current opportunities available. View the BCBC Pilot and Feasibility Review Process.
